I must admit, before embarking upon reading this book I was a little skeptical. I am a regular reader, and enjoy reading books that relates to life improvement. However, I have read many books on marriage and they all have the same underlying theme, it takes hard work and commitment. Let me be clear, I am not suggesting that hard work and commitment are not key factors for a successful marriage. Hard work and commitment are generalized and broad, without the insight of knowing where and how to streamline the hard work, it can seem to be overwhelming. Dr. Eggerichs book Love and Respect gave me the insight I needed to streamline my efforts in making my marriage a more complete , holistic marriage. I want to highlight what I believe to be five transforming thoughts Dr. Eggerichs shared throughout Love and Respect:

1) Communication
2) Love
3) Unity
4) Faith
5) Grace

As I write this review, these five thoughts are transforming my marriage, and I believe if you apply them to your marriage, you will experience fulfillment and hope like never before. This book should be a mandatory read for all engaged, newlywed, or trouble marriages.
